Even Ms. Johnson couldn't resist the S'mores!
For a special project tomorrow it would  be helpful if every child could bring in one or two sticks SAFELY in their backpack.  It should be about the size and shape to roast a marshmallow. Thanks:)

A camping we will go....

Look at Cianna and Cooper building compound words with magnets. Lots of the insects we studied are compound words.

We took a survey and found out most of the class has been camping before.
We worked on a camping wordsearch and  put some camping words into ABC order.
Tomorrow we are going to play a fun game called
"What's in my Tent"
We can't wait!

Under 20 days left....................................

Some scenes from Drop everything and read day!

Today was our last day in our Insect journals. Today's insect was the firefly. Check out Kloey's light up firefly.
Have your child read to you about a few amazing insects tonight.

Rain, rain go away we had to play inside today, BUT that was ok!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look at our fun!

Here we are with Mrs. Haas's class practicing for our end of the year program.
Mark those calendars for June 3rd at 2:00 to see all our hard work!
( and maybe even some special guests:)
Teeters and Owen-shhh!

These girls are the cats meow!

What a team!

Here we are being treated to the band and orchestra concert. 15 past students of Ms. Johnson were in the show- it might be us someday!

We are super proud of this 6th grader! This is Carly's big brother Tom. He plays the violin.  Recently  Tom auditioned and won a  music scholarship. He is the first winner of this  award from Big Bend School.
Way to go!

Making the paper

What is this?????
It is the paper we recycled today.
We turned toilet paper into pulp by shaking it with water.-  Gabby
We strained out the extra pulp and blotted with a sponge. It dried into a harder different paper- Lawson

Check out our new blossom shaped table ( we have 2!). It is perfect for collaborating and teamwork.

We worked in groups to make lists of things that light up the night sky, just like fireflies!
Fireflies  are  the last insect in our insect study.
They use their lights to communicate with each other- Benson
Their lights can be yellow, red or green- Jake

Terrific Table Team work!
