Safety First

We started the day with  a practice Emergency Lockdown.  We took this very seriously and the police officers said we did a great job.

After that important practice it was time to let loose and enjoy this gorgeous weather with friends!

These students put their best feet forward on our ABC countdown M is for mismatch day.............

Happy Trails

We took a trip down memory lane and looked back on our very first kindergarten writing journal. We cannot believe how much we have grown. We are anxious to bring home our very first and last journal of the kindergarten year (during the last week of school)- you will be amazed!

Today we read a book about maps and used our map making skills to make maps of our own campgrounds. We had to draw a compass, use a key and  come up with symbols for each  place.  We have deluxe campgrounds with toilets, picnic grounds, and plenty of hiking trails.

It is kind to share and cooperate!
Being kind is being polite and remembering to raise your hand and wait for your turn- Caden

Flowers make people smile. It is kind to grow and give flowers.

Even after all this time
The sun never says to the Earth
"You owe me".
Look what happens
With a love like that.
It lights up the whole sky.

First, Next, Last

When we write we can think of a flower growing there is a beginning, middle and end.

We thought about this when we wrote directions to make S'mores.  We used words like first, second, third, next and last on our writing.

S'more wonderful writing!

Here we are working on a thank you note to one of the presenters on Expanding Horizons Day. There are so many uses for writing.

Top Dog superstar Evie shared her all about me poster. Did you know Evie was born in California?  How cool!

J for joke day! Here were a couple of our favorites:
Why is a frog good at baseball?
because it catches flies! (Paige)

Is your refridgerator running?
You better catch it! (Leah)

Why did the hummingbird hum?
because he forgot the words (Kloey)

Expanding Horizons

Today we had a very high interest day as we shared  facts about our Interests  for the ABC countdown "I" day!
We also had a very interesting afternoon with our PTO sponsored "Expanding Horizons Day."
We had 3 visitors:
We learned about firefighters, EMT's and the important and difficult job they have.  Ms. Johnson was a honorary firefighter dressing in  the gear. All that gear is very heavy and hot.  We thank them for keeping us safe and helping people.
Citizen's bank visited to talk to us about coins, values and saving money. We got to do coin rubbings and even keep the coins. THANK YOU!
Last, Corner's Pet store visited and we learned more about the animals we all love. We were visited by a tarantula, hermit crab, rat, rabbits, guinea pig and even puppies!
We had a very interesting and exciting afternoon.
