A colorful day

Today we talked about how letters are  symbols for sounds we use to read and write.
We also looked at many symbols that we may see everyday and what they mean.
Be on the lookout for symbols.

We read this story and compared being little to being big.
When I was little I didn't have to eat all my food and now I do- Cameron
Babies chew on stuff a lot more- Eli
Babies sleep more than we do- Addison
Some babies have hair and some don't, but  now we all have hair- Riley
Babies cry more than we do now- Shaniya
Now that I am big I can play the piano- Sam

In math we read this story and built a graph of our classes favorite colors.

We also began a color book and learned how to spell red. Click on this R-E-D to check out a special song we learned today!

Reading is fun! A classroom favorite is "No David!" and  "David Goes To School", by David Shannon

We have been working on rhyming, beginning sounds, letter formation, tracking print and so much more.
We love to read and hear stories!

See you later alligator!

 Rhyming is so much fun!

Cameron made a rhyming match- goat and boat!

Smile Henry- you made a rhyming match- box and fox!

Easton is all smiles because he matched these rhyming words- pan and man!

More smiles for Dominic who matched the rhyming words mat and hat!

That tricky rhyming pair nose and hose was not tricky for Landyn!

Way to go Addison bug and rug was our last rhyming pair.

In math we counted the letters in our friends names and then built a graph to see whose names were the longest and shortest.
Three friends Mya, Sam and Eli have 3 letters in their names. The longest names in our class had 7 letters and  the most kids in our class had names with 7 letters.
More observations-
2 people had two letters- Finn
7 people had seven letters- Henry T.
3 people had three letters- Mya
Finn is the only one with 4 letters-  Shaniya

Building graphs is fun!
Kindergarten is a lot of hard work! Rest up this weekend for our first full week of school!
