Abe Lincoln's Hat

Today we learned the true story of how Abe Lincoln kept important papers in his hat. He was a lawyer and he needed to keep his papers safe. We then wrote about what is important to us. Good readers make these connections between stories and their own lives..

In math students worked in partners to tell and symbolize subtraction number stories. A blue sheet is coming home tonight for you to practice.

We read Duck for President.  Duck wanted to leave the farm because the farmer wanted him to do too many chores.
We wrote letters to Farmer Brown about what duck wanted to do instead, like:
Go to Culvers- Brooklyn

Go in the pool- Paige

Go to Washington, D.C.- Kloey

Eat ice cream!- Jake

Leah is this weeks superstar and she sure makes Danny feel like a star too!

We worked hard building words from the ake word family. We keep practicing the rule of silent e.  Silent e at the end makes the vowel say the long sound ( its name). Let your child show you some word building with the ake family tonight. all the pieces are coming home:)

Presidents Day

Today we learned about presidents especially Washington and Lincoln. Check out the song below which taught us lots of fun facts.
