What are we scared of?

We have been talking about what scares us. Fortunately many of the things we are scared of are make believe.

These spooky friends don't  scare Mrs.Masters. They are from one of  her favorite Halloween movies,
"The Nightmare Before Christmas".

Our graph shows most of our class would want a scary pumpkin. Scary pumpkins don't scare us!

When the letters c and h work together we get the "ch" sound! We did a word sort with that sound .

Teaming up against drugs.

It may be dark and gloomy outside, but indoor recess had us bright and warm inside.
(and made for a VERY energetic day in class!!!!!!!!!!)

Sock it to drugs!

Many classmates participated in red ribbons week, "sock it to drugs" day by wearing some really crazy and mismatched socks.

All these red slips are pledges that we will say no to drugs.

Today we worked on building and writing words from the "at" word family. Have your child read you their at words. They are coming home tonight on the back of our "Bat in the Dark" papers.

We also read a Science Spin on nocturnal animals. We learned about sugar gliders. We read a graph in math to answer questions about nocturnal animals.  We did tree puzzles to help us answer the last pages in our tree journals.  We are working on long and short vowel sounds. Tomorrow is "Team Up" against drugs- wear exercise clothes jerseys or sport team shirts.

We labeled bat parts, measured with bat rulers, and did a class survey.
The question was . "Do you like bats?"
Most of the class does.
Some people think they're scary,
but we don't think its true.
They eat pesky mosquitoes so they don't bite you!
One brown bat can eat up to 2,000 insects a night!

A bumblebee bat is the smallest bat- Sam
Bats range from 5 inches to 5 feet.
Bats are good because they eat mosquitoes- Keighan

Our Top Dog Keighan does BUT a new baby BROTHER is coming in November! Keighan is VERY excited about that.

Top Dog  Riley's mom read us a special Halloween story.  As a bonus we got to play with Riley's adorable brother  Parker!

Today we sorted  different shapes of leaves. Leaves can resemble many shapes like hearts, stars, triangles and more.

It was a super cheesy day as group 2 of our class enjoyed our walk and pizza at Crossroads.  Thank you Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Kildau for joining the fun.
